Overview of the PM-KISAN Scheme

Initiated in February 2019, the PM-KISAN program aims to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farmers throughout India. Eligible farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually, distributed in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 via direct bank transfers. The previous installment was released on November 19, 2025, in Coimbatore, benefiting over 90 million farmers with total transfers surpassing Rs 18,000 crore. The 20th installment, issued in August 2025, reached around 98 million farmers, including approximately 24 million women beneficiaries. This scheme is designed to assist farmers in acquiring essential agricultural inputs, enhancing crop management, and reducing reliance on informal loans.

Enhanced Digital Verification

In recent years, the government has bolstered the digital framework of the scheme to enhance transparency and verification processes. The PM-KISAN mobile application, introduced in 2020, allows farmers to register, monitor installment payments, and complete necessary e-KYC verification. The scheme celebrated its seventh anniversary on February 24, 2026, marking a significant achievement in the government's commitment to providing direct income support to India's agricultural community.
