Bhubaneswar Meeting Focuses on Educational Development

On Friday, the sixth Executive Council meeting of Panchasakha Shiksha Setu took place in Bhubaneswar, concentrating on enhancing school infrastructure and elevating educational quality through alumni engagement and support.

During this meeting, projects totaling Rs 7.73 crore were sanctioned for school development across 29 districts in the state. Panchasakha Shiksha Setu has become a vital platform for fostering connections between schools and their alumni, facilitating their contributions towards institutional growth.

With the backing of alumni, parents, school management committees, intellectuals, and various organizations, initiatives are being implemented to enhance essential infrastructure and create a more conducive learning atmosphere in schools. The meeting reported financial contributions of ₹2,57,90,810 from alumni, parents, local individuals, and organizations for school development.

Thanks to the matching grant from Panchasakha Shiksha Setu, the total support has nearly doubled the initial contributions, leading to the approval of projects worth Rs 7,73,72,430. These projects will address classroom repairs, improve drinking water facilities, construct boundary walls and school gates, beautify campuses, install bicycle stands, and maintain other critical infrastructure.

These enhancements aim to create safer, more appealing school environments that foster better learning experiences for students. Notably, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Jajpur, and Kataka districts reported the highest financial contributions.

This trend indicates a growing commitment and collaborative spirit among alumni and organizations towards school development. The meeting was led by N. Thirumala Naik, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department and Chairman of the Executive Council.

He highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between schools and their alumni while encouraging greater involvement in the overall advancement of educational institutions. To enhance alumni engagement, the meeting introduced two new initiatives: Alumni Podcast and District Spotlight.

The Alumni Podcast will feature successful alumni from various fields sharing their educational journeys, challenges, experiences, and success stories. These discussions are designed to motivate other alumni to contribute to their former institutions' growth. Current students will also gain insights from these accomplished individuals, receiving valuable guidance for their future careers.

The District Spotlight initiative will highlight development activities undertaken by Panchasakha Shiksha Setu in different districts, showcasing positive changes in schools and sharing success stories resulting from alumni contributions.
