Inauguration of a New Garment Facility in Khurda


Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, Odisha's Industries Minister, Sampad Chandra Swain, officially opened a new garment manufacturing facility in Khurda, which is projected to create approximately 7,050 job opportunities, marking a significant advancement in the state's textiles and apparel industry.


The manufacturing site, which spans 40 acres, has been established by the Epic Group.


During his speech, Swain highlighted that this investment signifies the increasing global trust in Odisha's industrial development.


He stated, "Odisha is not merely attracting investments; we are cultivating environments where industries can flourish and make a lasting impact. Areas like Kalibeti in Khurda are entering a new era of industrial expansion."


Swain emphasized that the new facility is expected to employ around 7,050 individuals, underscoring its importance to the textiles and apparel sector.


He noted, "An impressive 90% of the workforce at this facility consists of women, marking a significant milestone towards women-led development."


Ranjan Mahtani, founder and chairman of Epic Group, remarked, "We are committed to the idea that industrial advancement and environmental stewardship must coexist. The Trimetro manufacturing campus exemplifies this philosophy, serving as a model for sustainable manufacturing that benefits both people and the planet."


The company announced that this state-of-the-art facility is designed to be one of India's most advanced garment manufacturing plants, with an annual production capacity of 20 million garments for international markets.


With a backing of $100 million, the Trimetro Campus is recognized as India's first garment manufacturing facility to achieve net-zero carbon emissions and net-zero water usage.


The project received partial support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which provided a $100 million debt financing package in 2024, including a sustainability-linked loan and a green loan with sustainability features.
