Odisha's Rise as an Investment Powerhouse


Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, Chief Speaker Sampad Chandra Swain, who serves as the Minister of Industries, Skill Development, and Technical Education, emphasized that Odisha is becoming a significant hub for investments, supported by favorable policies and a business-friendly atmosphere.


During the Business Eminence Awards 2026, Swain expressed gratitude to the Editor of Dharitri and the CEO of a local media outlet for hosting the event, which celebrates entrepreneurs who are pivotal to the state's development.


He pointed out that businesses provide not only flexibility and freedom but also opportunities for innovation. Business leaders play a crucial role in society by creating jobs and driving social change.


Swain noted that under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi's guidance, the groundwork has been laid for 148 projects totaling Rs 2.87 lakh crore, alongside several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at fostering future growth.


He mentioned that the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) has sanctioned 433 proposals exceeding Rs 8 lakh crore, indicating a surge in investor confidence in Odisha.


The minister revealed plans for two pharmaceutical parks and a focus on labor-intensive sectors to boost job creation.


Additionally, Odisha has achieved the top rank in India Skills, with plans to establish two World Skill Centres in Sambalpur and Berhampur, mirroring the successful model in Bhubaneswar.


Swain also highlighted the government's initiative to provide financial assistance to student entrepreneurs, aiming to bolster the startup ecosystem in the state.
