Strengthening Skill Development in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: In a significant move aimed at preparing a workforce for the future and enhancing Odisha's role in skill development and technical education, several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with key partners during a special event at the World Skill Center on Tuesday. This initiative is set to bolster skill training, align educational programs with industry demands, and create Centres of Excellence, thereby increasing employment prospects for the youth in the state, according to official reports.


During the event, Industries and Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain emphasized that these agreements represent crucial investments in human resources. He noted that these collaborations are designed to cultivate a skilled workforce essential for Odisha's growing industrial landscape, while also offering young people access to quality training, job opportunities, and career advancement. The focus of these partnerships includes high-growth sectors such as emerging technologies, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, robotics, semiconductors, green jobs, and automotive technology.


The MoUs will facilitate the establishment of Centres of Excellence and promote industry-led training, curriculum updates, trainer development, knowledge sharing, apprenticeships, and job placements. Participants will benefit from exposure to the latest technologies and industry standards, ensuring that training remains relevant to market demands. This collaboration particularly highlights the importance of future skills and sustainable development, aiming to equip youth for new job opportunities while fostering innovation, digital transformation, and eco-friendly growth.


Moreover, this partnership will broaden access to technical education and skilled jobs for women and marginalized communities. The strategic partners involved include 1M1B Foundation, Calderys (France), CIEL HR Services Ltd, Cloos India (Germany), Delphi-TVS Technologies Ltd, F5 India (USA), Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, Hettich Poddar Wood Working Institute, iFOREST, Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Pvt Ltd, OASME, Semantics, Siksha O Anusandhan University, THK India (Japan), and Utkal University.
