Significant Investment for Job Creation in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, the Odisha government sanctioned seven significant industrial initiatives, amounting to an investment of ₹55,783 crore, which are expected to create 14,507 job opportunities, according to an official announcement.


These project proposals received approval during a meeting of the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA), presided over by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.


Majhi emphasized that these investment approvals are part of the state's strategy to become self-reliant and achieve a prosperous Odisha by 2036.


The approved initiatives cover vital sectors such as steel, rare earth manufacturing, automotive components, semiconductors, industrial gases, ferroalloys, and renewable energy, with projects located in districts including Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Keonjhar, and Khurda.


In the steel industry, Saffron Resources Private Limited, a subsidiary of the JSW Group, is set to invest ₹35,000 crore to build a 6 MTPA steel plant in Dhenkanal, which is projected to create around 8,000 jobs.


Jindal Poly Films Limited plans to invest ₹12,000 crore in Ganjam to establish a 0.5 MTPA Titanium Dioxide Pigment manufacturing facility, expected to generate 4,000 jobs.


In the automotive sector, a well-known company will invest ₹1,697 crore in Ganjam to set up a manufacturing unit for tyres, carbon black, and zinc oxide, which will create 685 jobs.


To enhance Odisha's footprint in high-tech manufacturing, Sancode Semi Private Limited will invest ₹1,649.98 crore to establish an Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT) unit in Khurda, generating 570 jobs.


The industrial gases sector will also see growth, with Inox Air Products Private Limited proposing a ₹1,300 crore investment to create an Air Separation Unit in Dhenkanal, which will provide 180 jobs and meet the rising demand for quality industrial gases.


Ferro Alloys Corporation Limited is set to invest ₹2,000 crore in Keonjhar to develop facilities for Ferro Manganese and Silico Manganese, along with a 100 MW Captive Power Plant, creating 772 jobs.


Additionally, GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited's proposal for a 350 MW thermal power plant in Dhenkanal, with an investment of ₹2,136.02 crore, has been approved, which will provide employment for 300 individuals.
