New FASTag Annual Pass Set to Enhance Highway Travel Experience
Introduction of FASTag Annual Pass
Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, has unveiled a new FASTag-based annual pass aimed at streamlining travel on highways and expressways. This pass will be available starting August 15, 2025, and will offer convenient travel for a fee of Rs 3000.
Conditions for Use
A key stipulation for this pass is that it will only be valid on highways and expressways managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). It will not be accepted at toll booths operated by state governments, meaning it can be utilized on routes like the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway but not on others such as the Meerut Expressway, Yamuna Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway, or Purvanchal Expressway.
How to Obtain the Pass
According to Minister Gadkari, the FASTag annual pass can be acquired through the Highway Travel App, the official NHAI website, and the Ministry of Transport's website. He mentioned that a dedicated link will be provided soon to facilitate the activation of this pass.
Activation and Eligibility
This annual pass will be linked to the vehicle's existing RFID FASTag and will automatically activate when the vehicle approaches within 60 kilometers of a toll plaza. It is important to note that the pass is non-transferable and can be applied for any vehicle with a valid FASTag. However, vehicles with a FASTag registered to a specific chassis number will not qualify for this annual pass.
