Market Valuation Takes a Hit: TCS Leads the Decline Amid Bearish Trends
Market Valuation Declines Significantly
New Delhi: The total market capitalization of five of the ten most valuable companies saw a reduction of Rs 1 lakh crore last week, with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) experiencing the largest decline, as domestic equity markets faced a bearish trend.
During the previous week, the BSE Sensex fell by 489.92 points, equivalent to a 0.62% decrease, while the NSE Nifty dropped by 204.65 points, or 0.83%.
According to Ajit Mishra, Senior Vice President of Research at Religare Broking Ltd, "The markets concluded the week on a lower note due to high crude oil prices, renewed geopolitical tensions, and mixed signals from global markets, which negatively impacted investor confidence."
Among the firms that suffered valuation losses were Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, and TCS. Conversely, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), and Hindustan Unilever saw gains, collectively adding Rs 55,149.45 crore to their market valuations.
Specifically, TCS's market valuation decreased by Rs 34,263.28 crore, bringing it down to Rs 8,53,506.85 crore.
Reliance Industries' valuation fell by Rs 31,869.13 crore to Rs 17,70,056.06 crore, while State Bank of India's market cap dropped by Rs 25,891.88 crore to Rs 9,85,829.96 crore.
HDFC Bank's market capitalization decreased by Rs 7,165.37 crore to Rs 11,20,802.10 crore, and ICICI Bank's valuation diminished by Rs 2,792.65 crore to Rs 10,17,577.98 crore.
On a positive note, LIC's valuation increased by Rs 26,438.49 crore, reaching Rs 5,23,330.31 crore.
Bharti Airtel's market cap surged by Rs 20,592.13 crore to Rs 12,43,016.11 crore, while Bajaj Finance's valuation rose by Rs 3,548.79 crore to Rs 6,77,197.34 crore.
Larsen & Toubro's market cap increased by Rs 2,490.66 crore, bringing its total to Rs 5,58,973.11 crore.
Hindustan Unilever's market capitalization also saw a rise of Rs 2,079.38 crore, reaching Rs 4,90,888.35 crore.
Currently, Reliance Industries holds the title of the most valuable domestic company, followed by Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, TCS, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, LIC, and Hindustan Unilever.
