New Delhi, Sep 22: Mark Zuckerberg experienced a remarkable increase in his net worth, gaining an estimated billion in just one day. This surge followed a nearly 12 percent rise in Meta Platforms' shares, which was fueled by the company's ambitious plans for artificial intelligence ahead of the annual Meta Connect conference.
As per Forbes' calculations, Zuckerberg's wealth reached around 3.6 billion as Meta's stock continued to rise during Monday's trading.
Initially, the Meta founder saw an increase of about .9 billion in early trading, but as the day progressed, his one-day gain escalated to an estimated billion by midday.
This significant uptick in Meta's market value positioned Zuckerberg among the top wealth gainers worldwide. By Monday afternoon, he was ranked sixth on Forbes' Real-Time Billionaires list, just behind Google co-founder Sergey Brin by approximately .5 billion.
His financial gains surpassed those of other prominent billionaires, including Tesla's Elon Musk, whose wealth rose by an estimated billion during the same trading session.
Investor confidence was bolstered after Wells Fargo raised its price target for Meta shares to 6 from 0, while maintaining an "overweight" rating.
The brokerage pointed to user adoption trends for Meta's newly introduced AI assistant, Muse, as a crucial factor to monitor ahead of the company's forthcoming product announcements.
Muse, launched earlier this month, is designed to function as a personal AI assistant capable of performing various tasks, such as sending emails, booking travel, and managing tasks across connected applications.
Zuckerberg has framed this product as part of Meta's larger vision to provide users with "personal superintelligence" across its platforms.
The company's AI strategy is set to be a focal point at Meta Connect 2026, taking place on September 23-24. Industry experts anticipate that Meta will reveal advancements in AI agents, software capabilities, and smart wearable technology during the event.
