Manage Your UPI AutoPay Easily with New Government Portal

Introduction to UPI AutoPay Issues

New Delhi, January 7, 2026: The use of UPI has become so widespread that many people now set up UPI AutoPay for mobile recharges, bill payments, and subscriptions to services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+ Hotstar. However, a common issue arises when users unknowingly continue to incur charges for old or unwanted subscriptions each month. In some cases, even after deleting an app, AutoPay remains active, leading to unauthorized deductions ranging from ₹100 to ₹500 or more.

NPCI Launches a New Portal

The good news is that the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced a government portal where users can view all their UPI AutoPay mandates in one place and can easily stop unwanted auto payments. This eliminates the need to navigate through various apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, or BHIM. Launched in December 2025, this portal specifically addresses the issue of unwanted subscriptions.

What is the NPCI Government Portal?

The portal is named UPI Help, and its URL is: upihelp.npci.org.in. Here, users can access a list of all active UPI AutoPay mandates (e-mandates), regardless of the bank or UPI app used to set them up. Users have the option to pause or revoke these mandates. This feature was implemented following an NPCI circular in October 2025, aimed at giving users more control and preventing 'dark patterns' associated with hidden auto subscriptions.

Step-by-Step Guide to Cancel AutoPay

  1. Open your mobile or computer browser and type: upihelp.npci.org.in

  2. Once the portal opens, enter your mobile number (the one linked to your UPI).

  3. You will receive an OTP; verify it.

  4. After logging in, click on “Show my AUTOPAY Mandates” or “Manage AutoPay”.

  5. A complete list of all active mandates will be displayed, showing the service (like Netflix, Spotify, etc.), the amount deducted monthly, when it started, and which bank account it is linked to.

  6. Select the mandate you wish to cancel.

  7. Choose either “Pause” (temporary stop) or “Revoke/Cancel Mandate” (permanent stop).

  8. Enter your UPI PIN to confirm.

  9. That's it! The mandate will be canceled immediately, and no further payments will be deducted for that service.

Important Notes

  • Currently, mandates from major banks (like SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Axis, Kotak, etc.) are visible here, with more banks to be added soon.

  • If a mandate is not visible, check your UPI app (like PhonePe, GPay, etc.) separately.

  • Once a payment is deducted, it cannot be reversed, so check regularly.

Why Checking AutoPay is Essential

  • Millions of users are unknowingly losing money on old subscriptions each month.

  • With NPCI's new regulations, mandates are now portable, allowing transfers from one app to another.

  • This portal is a significant step towards reducing complaints of fraud and unauthorized deductions.
