Jio Platforms Reports Impressive Growth: What’s Behind the Surge?
Strong Financial Performance in Q3 2026
New Delhi: Jio Platforms announced a remarkable 13.7% increase in its consolidated net profit, reaching Rs 8,389 crore for the quarter ending September 2026. This growth is attributed to an increase in subscribers, improved revenue per user, and robust expansion in digital services.
The company's consolidated operational revenue also saw an 11.4% rise, totaling Rs 40,475 crore for the reviewed quarter, as per their regulatory filing.
This quarterly report marks the company's first since its impressive stock market debut earlier this week, and it was the first time Managing Director Akash Ambani addressed investors during a quarterly results call.
Net profit attributable to the company's owners was Rs 8,389 crore for the recent quarter, compared to Rs 7,379 crore from the same period last year.
Sequentially, the consolidated net profit increased by 8% from Rs 7,765 crore in the previous quarter, while operational revenue grew by 3.3% from Rs 39,173 crore.
The quarterly EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization) surged by 16.6% year-on-year to Rs 21,879 crore, with the EBITDA margin expanding by 250 basis points to 54.1%.
Jio Platforms credited its revenue growth to an increase in subscribers, higher average revenue per user (ARPU), and significant growth in digital services.
Revenue from connectivity services grew by 11%, while digital services experienced a 16% increase during the quarter. The total subscriber base rose by 7.1% to 54.24 crore from 50.64 crore a year earlier, with net additions of 91 lakh subscribers in the September quarter.
Monthly ARPU climbed to Rs 218.8, up from Rs 211.4 in the previous year and Rs 215.6 in the June quarter; average monthly data consumption per user increased by 14.2% to 44.2 GB.
Jio also achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 30 crore 5G subscribers during the quarter, adding 6.6 crore 5G users over the past year.
"Customer engagement remained strong, with 5G now accounting for nearly 56% of total wireless traffic," stated the JPL earnings release.
The fixed broadband subscriber base reached 3 crore.
"Jio AirFiber, with a total of 15.1 million subscribers, has contributed to over 75% of Jio's fixed broadband additions in the last year," the release noted.
Total data traffic surged by 22.1% year-on-year to 71.3 billion GB during the quarter.
This announcement marks the first results release for the digital and telecom company following its blockbuster stock market debut earlier this week, where shares closed nearly 27% above the Rs 1,119 issue price, propelling the company to become the second-most valuable domestic firm by market capitalization within just ten years.
The company's IPO raised Rs 30,188 crore, with Rs 27,500 crore allocated for prepaying certain external commercial borrowings of its subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm.
In his comments on the results, Jio Platforms Managing Director Akash Ambani remarked, "This quarter's results reflect the strength of our 5G network and the expanding reach of our broadband and digital services."
"We will continue to enhance our capabilities in satellite communications, 6G intellectual property, and AI integration in our core voice and data services to create lasting value for all stakeholders," he added.
During the JPL earnings call, Ambani highlighted that Jio Platforms' record-breaking IPO attracted interest from all investor categories despite challenging market conditions and foreign outflows, asserting that the company anticipates creating even greater value in the next decade than it did in its first ten years.
Describing the IPO as a new milestone, Ambani emphasized that the company's ambitions extend far beyond its listing.
"We believe the value we can generate over the next decade will surpass what we achieved in our first decade," he stated, expressing the company's aspirations for further growth.
Reiterating his message from the NSE listing speech, Ambani concluded, "Never let today’s achievements limit tomorrow’s ambitions, and that is the vision we want to carry forward with Jio."
