Safe Voyage of Jag Vikram


New Delhi: The Indian-flagged LPG carrier, Jag Vikram, successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, transporting around 20,400 metric tonnes of LPG. The vessel, with a crew of 24 seafarers, is anticipated to reach Kandla port on Tuesday, as per a government announcement.


Reports indicate that all Indian seafarers in the vicinity are safe, and there have been no incidents involving Indian-flagged ships in the last 24 hours.


The DG Shipping Control Room has received a total of 6,073 calls and 12,867 emails since its activation, including 20 calls and 80 emails in the last day.


So far, DG Shipping has successfully facilitated the repatriation of over 2,177 Indian seafarers, with 93 returning in the past 24 hours from various locations in the Gulf.


Port operations across India are functioning smoothly, with no congestion reported. The western coast ports have received 3,383 TEUs of containers bound for West Asia, of which 3,228 TEUs have been processed for return.


Only 155 TEUs remain due to operational factors from shipping lines, with no delays at any port.


The Ministry of Ports and Shipping is working closely with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Missions in the Gulf, and maritime stakeholders to ensure the safety of Indian seafarers and maintain seamless maritime operations.


Indian missions and posts in the region are actively engaging with the Indian community, providing assistance and issuing advisories for their safety, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.


External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently visited the UAE from April 11 to 12.


The government is continuously monitoring the situation in the Gulf and West Asia, with the Ministry of External Affairs maintaining regular communication with state governments and Union Territory administrations for improved information sharing and coordination.


Efforts are concentrated on ensuring the safety and welfare of the Indian community in the region. Indian Missions and Posts are operating 24/7 helplines and are actively assisting Indian nationals.


Regular updates and advisories are being issued, including information on local government regulations, flight and travel conditions, and consular services.
