Market Performance Overview

The Indian stock market concluded the trading session on a high note, with the Sensex climbing by more than 700 points. This surge was fueled by positive investor sentiment following a pause in the conflict in Iran and a significant drop in crude oil prices. By the end of the day, the Sensex had increased by 776.01 points, or 1.02%, reaching 76,835.78, while the Nifty index rose by 228.50 points, or 0.96%, closing at 23,995.95.

Vinod Nair, the Head of Research at Geojit Investments Limited, commented, "The halt in military actions in West Asia has alleviated fears regarding rising import expenses and inflation, leading to a market relief rally. The notable decline in crude oil prices, coupled with a drop in long-term bond yields, has sparked optimism for a sustainable resolution, bolstered by indications of long unwinding. This week’s key central bank meetings, including those of the Fed, BoE, and BoJ, could offer more flexibility in maintaining current interest rates." He further noted, "Domestically, a reduction in rainfall deficits is enhancing the inflation outlook, supported by better-than-expected earnings for Q1 and a favorable business climate."
