Mumbai, Nov 6: The Indian stock market continued its upward trend for the seventh consecutive trading session on Friday, marking the first such occurrence in three years. This surge was driven by significant buying in major banking stocks and select companies reporting strong earnings, which boosted overall market sentiment.

The Sensex surged by 1,718.01 points, or 2.17%, closing at 81,028.02, while the Nifty rose by 493.75 points, or 2.01%, finishing at 25,030.35.

This rally enabled the Nifty to surpass the crucial 25,000 mark for the first time since February 27, 2026, achieving its highest closing level in nine months.

Experts analyzing the Nifty's technical outlook noted that the index is nearing a resistance zone between 25,150 and 25,200.

They indicated that a decisive move above this range could strengthen the bullish trend and pave the way for further gains.

Conversely, they highlighted that 24,800 is anticipated to serve as immediate support. The index's ability to remain above this threshold is vital for sustaining the current upward momentum, while a significant drop below could lead to short-term profit-taking.

Market analysts attributed the recent gains to the ongoing strength in banking and financial services stocks, alongside a shift away from the global artificial intelligence trade, prompting investors to diversify into other sectors.

Among the top performers in the Nifty, Mahindra & Mahindra, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Life Insurance Company played a crucial role in the benchmark's notable rise.

The latest advancements also contributed to a broader market recovery that began as concerns regarding the West Asia conflict eased and sentiment improved following corporate earnings reports.

However, the broader market lagged behind the benchmarks, with the Nifty MidCap 100 index slightly declining by 0.02%, and the Nifty SmallCap 100 dropping by 0.82%.

Sector-wise, the Nifty Private Bank index outperformed others as investors flocked to financial stocks, while the Nifty Media index was the weakest performer during the session.
