How Odisha's Chief Minister Aims to Boost Employment Through Cultural Tourism
Odisha's Commitment to Cultural Tourism
Bhubaneswar: On Monday, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the state's commitment to creating job opportunities for locals through the enhancement of tourism, particularly by fostering the 'Orange Economy,' which focuses on culture-driven economic growth.
Speaking at a significant event held at the Lord Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, CM Majhi commemorated the 75th anniversary of the Somnath Temple's reconstruction, known as 'Somnath Swabhiman Parv.'
During his address as the chief guest, he highlighted the profound connection between Somnath and Lingaraj, asserting that while Somnath serves as the guardian of western India, Lingaraj embodies the enduring spiritual essence of the East.
A unique spiritual ambiance enveloped the Lingaraj Temple (Ekamra Peeth) as the Chief Minister, alongside senior party officials and dignitaries, participated in a live broadcast of the Prime Minister's address and worship rituals, sharing these sacred moments with the gathered devotees.
The Chief Minister underscored the necessity of safeguarding Indian culture and advancing the development of Saivite temples throughout the state.
Reflecting on the historical significance of the Somnath Temple, Majhi remarked, 'The reconstruction of Somnath marked the revival of Indian civilization under the guidance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and today, India is experiencing a cultural renaissance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.'
He noted that despite numerous attempts by invaders to dismantle temples and suppress India's spirit, the unwavering faith of the Sanatanis has ensured the temples' resurgence.
Majhi recalled the pivotal events of 1951, stating, 'The reconstruction of the Somnath Temple was made possible by Sardar Patel's steadfast determination.'
He pointed out that PM Modi's philosophy of 'Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi' is evident in various initiatives, including the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and the grand Ram Mandir construction in Ayodhya.
In line with PM Modi's vision, the Odisha government has initiated projects like the Ekamra Kshetra development, with an investment of Rs 330 crore, and the proposed Shri Jagannath Museum project, estimated at Rs 1,000 crore, aimed at establishing Odisha as India's cultural hub.
CM Majhi reiterated that promoting the 'Orange Economy' and creating job opportunities through tourism are top priorities for his administration. He concluded by invoking the spirit of Sardar Patel and PM Modi's vision, urging the 4.5 crore residents of Odisha to strive for a 'Prosperous Odisha' and a 'Developed India.'
