The IT company briefly held the position of the top gainer on the Nifty 50 index following its announcement of a substantial $1.14 billion contract with a Fortune Global 50 company based in Europe. According to an exchange filing, the company expressed its enthusiasm about forming a strategic partnership with the unnamed European firm to develop an AI-driven operational framework aimed at transforming and managing their Global Digital Workplace and Enterprise Networks. The agreement is set to commence in July 2026 and will run until December 2031, with the possibility of a five-year extension. The projected value of this contract during its initial phase is estimated at $1.14 billion, representing entirely new business for HCL Tech.
Market analysts view this AI-led contract as a significant indicator of the IT sector's capacity for executing large deals, as well as its growth and leadership in AI-driven markets. Additionally, HCL Software’s Data & AI division (Actian) has reported a surge in demand for its metadata management, data catalog, and data governance offerings, showcasing impressive growth over the past five years.
