Government Demands Clarity from X on Grok AI's Obscene Content Management
Government Inquiry into Grok AI's Content Issues
New Delhi: The Indian government has requested additional information from X regarding the measures taken against inappropriate content associated with its Grok AI. Sources indicated that the company's response, although comprehensive, fell short of expectations.
This inquiry follows the submissions made by the social media platform, led by Elon Musk, to the IT Ministry, which was prompted by the government's directive to address the misuse of the Grok AI chatbot in generating sexualized and obscene imagery of women.
According to sources, the IT Ministry is seeking further clarification from X, particularly regarding the actions implemented to tackle obscene content linked to Grok AI and the preventive measures for the future.
The response provided by X earlier on Wednesday was described as 'detailed but insufficient,' as it did not adequately address the government's concerns.
X was granted an extension until Wednesday at 5 PM to submit a report on the actions taken, following a stern warning about the inappropriate and sexually explicit content produced through the misuse of AI services like Grok.
Sources revealed that X's reply emphasized its commitment to adhering to Indian laws and guidelines, highlighting India's significance as a major market for the platform. The response also detailed the stringent content removal policies in place for misleading information and non-consensual sexualized images.
However, the reply lacked essential details, particularly regarding the specific actions taken to address the obscene content issue related to Grok AI.
