Farmer Grows Giant Cabbage Weighing 30 Kilograms in the UK

A Remarkable Agricultural Achievement

Many individuals enjoy cabbage, particularly varieties like cauliflower and green cabbage, which are commonly found in our markets. Typically, cabbages are manageable in size, easily lifted with one hand for transport home. However, a farmer in Newport, UK, has cultivated a cabbage so enormous that it requires at least two people to lift it. This astonishing cabbage weighs a staggering 30 kilograms, and the farmer, Ian Neale, has received accolades for his achievement after showcasing it at a local flower show.

Previous Record-Breaking Vegetables

This isn't Ian's first foray into growing oversized vegetables. He has previously showcased other impressive specimens, including a carrot weighing 4 kilograms and a beetroot tipping the scales at 19 kilograms. To put this in perspective, one could easily find hundreds of carrots weighing 4 kilograms in local markets.

Spectators were left in awe of Ian's remarkable vegetables. He emphasized that these giants were grown using entirely natural methods and expressed his intention to cultivate even more such vegetables in the future. While he donated the giant cabbage to the flower show organizers, he took the carrot and beetroot home to feed his livestock.

World Records and Achievements

Despite the impressive weight of Ian's cabbage, it did not break any world records. The heaviest cabbage ever recorded weighed an astonishing 62 kilograms, grown by Scott Robb in the USA. Ian's cabbage was nearly half that weight.

On the other hand, Ian holds the record for the heaviest beetroot, having grown a 23.4-kilogram beetroot in 2001, a record that still stands today, nearly 17 years later.
