Strengthening Ties at the XVI Russia-India Business Dialogue
New Delhi: The XVI Russia-India Business Dialogue took place in Moscow, attracting over 1,250 attendees. The event underscored the ongoing collaboration between Russia and India, emphasizing the continuation of joint business initiatives on significant international platforms, including the upcoming St. Petersburg International Economic Forum set for June 3-6.
Organized by the Indian Business Alliance, the Business Council for Cooperation with India, the Moscow government, and the Roscongress Foundation, the Dialogue featured discussions on key areas of cooperation between the two nations.
Participants explored trade challenges and sought new avenues to enhance bilateral trade, as reported by Modern Diplomacy.
Topics such as logistics, financial resilience, industrial cooperation, import substitution, and partnerships in energy, technology, and innovation were also key points of discussion.
The conference also addressed collaborative projects in sectors like industry, energy, pharmaceuticals, and the digital economy.
Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Moscow government and head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, noted the consistent growth in business activities and the practical focus of Russia-India cooperation.
"The contacts between Russia and India show a strong momentum—over 50 joint business events have occurred in the past year. Currently, the emphasis is on localizing Indian businesses in Russia and enhancing cooperation in industries such as pharmaceuticals, electronics, and creative sectors, alongside increasing mutual investments and high-tech product exchanges," he stated.
Sammy Kotwani, President of the Indian Business Alliance (IBA), highlighted the pragmatic approach of Indian firms towards collaboration with Russia.
"This event signifies a new phase in our strategic partnership—one that is practical, regionally focused, and dedicated to executing tangible projects. The participation of over 1,250 registered attendees and the active engagement of Russian regions reflect a strong level of trust and interest in sustained cooperation," he remarked.
In his remarks during the plenary session, Alexey Valkov, Deputy Director of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, emphasized the significance of SPIEF as a vital platform for practical collaboration:
"India is a consistent and essential participant in Roscongress Foundation events. We are committed to advancing the Russia-India dialogue not only at events in Russia but also through the Foundation's international outreach initiatives," he added.
