ET NOW Marks 17 Years of Empowering Investors

As ET NOW commemorates its 17th anniversary, the channel continues to uphold its mission of empowering investors and supporting India's economic growth through its guiding principle of 'Rise With India.' To reinforce this commitment, the Times Network organized the ET NOW Markets Summit 2026, co-powered by PhonePe. This premier event gathered prominent economists, market strategists, fund managers, policymakers, and investment specialists to analyze the future of Indian markets amidst economic challenges and global fluctuations.

The summit, themed 'Navigating Volatility. Decoding Opportunities,' featured keynote speeches, insightful discussions, and panel debates, providing attendees with a thorough understanding of the current market dynamics.

During the keynote address, Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Chairman of SEBI, highlighted the pivotal role of AI in SEBI's future plans, emphasizing the importance of maintaining human oversight. He stated that SEBI is developing a framework for the responsible integration of AI within the capital markets, advocating for a 'Human-in-the-Loop' approach to ensure that critical decisions remain under human supervision. He acknowledged the potential of AI to enhance surveillance, risk management, fraud detection, and investor services, while also addressing the associated risks such as bias and data protection.

Pandey discussed the challenges faced by India's capital market, asserting that market integrity and investor protection must not be compromised for enablement. He noted that despite various challenges, including tariffs, oil price fluctuations, and AI disruptions, investor sentiment in India has remained strong. The Indian market has successfully raised over 1.5 lakh crore through equity and corporate bonds, with a robust IPO pipeline ahead.

In a panel discussion titled 'The Resilience of DIIs in Offsetting FII Outflows,' LIC MD Dinesh Pant emphasized the significance of multi-asset allocation for investor protection. He expressed optimism about India's growth trajectory, supported by healthy cash flows and increasing domestic participation. Pant remarked that domestic institutional investors (DIIs) have become a dependable force in Indian equities, consistently investing in the market and balancing foreign investor withdrawals.

During the panel 'India: Weathering The Macro Storm,' Ridham Desai, MD & Chief Equity Strategist-India at Morgan Stanley, pointed out that the Real Effective Exchange Rate (REER) indicates that the rupee is undervalued by approximately 11%, making it appealing for equity investors. He noted that India is experiencing a 12% earnings growth as of Q1, with the potential for positive surprises in the coming year due to a significant capital expenditure boom.

The summit featured industry leaders and experts, including Dinesh Pant, Sunil Singhania, Sandeep Tandon, and many others, who contributed to the discussions on market resilience and investment strategies.
