A one-day training session focused on millet processing and value addition was held in the tribal area of Bharmour. The primary goal was to enhance the socio-economic conditions and livelihood prospects for women from Scheduled Tribes. This initiative aimed to promote millets as a means to boost income and foster self-sufficiency among local women involved in self-help groups.


The event was organized in partnership with the Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR), located in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Telangana. Experts such as Dr. Anil Verma and Dr. Satish Kumar from Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry in Nauni, Solan, shared their expertise on various aspects of millet processing, storage, product innovation, and marketing strategies.


Participants learned that millets are not only nutritious but also significantly contribute to increasing farmers' incomes. Local women and farmers engaged actively, acquiring knowledge about contemporary techniques and practical methods for millet-based entrepreneurship.


The organizers pointed out that such training initiatives pave the way for new job opportunities in rural settings while promoting nutritional security.


Notable attendees included Acting Additional District Magistrate Bharmour Vikas Sharma and Dr. Manohar Lal, Horticulture Officer Bharmour, who underscored the significance of empowering tribal women through sustainable agricultural practices.
