East Coast Railway Responds to Passenger Demand with Special Trains and Additional Coaches
Increased Train Services to Alleviate Passenger Congestion
Bhubaneshwar: To address the surge in passenger demand and manage the influx of travelers due to recent IndiGo flight cancellations, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced the operation of special trains and the addition of extra coaches to select regular services heading towards Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Howrah, as confirmed by ECoR officials on Sunday.
The special train services include the Bhubaneswar–LTT special (08401), scheduled to leave Bhubaneswar on December 7; the LTT–Sambalpur special (08402), departing from LTT on December 9; the Puri–Anand Vihar Terminal special (08403), set to depart from Puri on December 8; and the Anand Vihar Terminal–Bhubaneswar special (08404), which will leave Anand Vihar Terminal on December 9. Additionally, the Visakhapatnam–SMVB Bengaluru special (08501) will depart from Visakhapatnam on December 8, while the SMVB Bengaluru–Visakhapatnam special (08502) is scheduled for December 9.
Alongside these special trains, extra AC coaches are being added to regular services to accommodate the increased number of passengers. The Bhubaneswar–New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express (22811) on December 7 and the New Delhi–Bhubaneswar Tejas Rajdhani Express (22812) on December 8 will each feature an additional 1st AC coach.
Furthermore, the Bhubaneswar–New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express (22823) on December 8 and the New Delhi–Bhubaneswar Tejas Rajdhani Express (22824) on December 9 will have one extra 3rd AC coach added.
In a similar vein, the Puri–Shalimar Garib Rath Express (12882) on December 8 and 10, along with the Shalimar–Puri Garib Rath Express (12881) on December 9 and 11, will also see the addition of a 3rd AC Economy Class coach.
Lastly, the Puri–Yesvantpur Garib Rath Express (22883) on December 12 and the Yesvantpur–Puri Garib Rath Express (22884) on December 13 will be augmented with one 3rd AC Economy Class coach.
