Citigroup Welcomes Viswas Raghavan with a $52 Million Compensation Package
Viswas Raghavan Joins Citigroup
Citigroup has recently appointed Viswas Raghavan, offering him a lucrative compensation package estimated at approximately $52 million. Raghavan is well-regarded for his extensive experience at JPMorgan Chase, where he established a formidable reputation in the realms of global banking and capital markets. His tenure included significant involvement in high-profile deals and various leadership positions, solidifying his status within the organization. However, his departure from JPMorgan was marred by controversy, including allegations related to workplace conduct and abusive behavior. Raghavan officially joined Citigroup in February 2024 as the head of banking, shortly after JPMorgan indicated that he had no long-term prospects with the firm, as reported by a financial news outlet.
During his 23 years at JPMorgan, Raghavan was instrumental in enhancing the bank's presence in European investment banking. He played a pivotal role in expanding the bank's operations beyond the United States, eventually ascending to the position of CEO for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions, and later becoming the sole head of global investment banking. His leadership style earned him the respect and loyalty of many colleagues, who viewed him as a demanding leader capable of delivering results, which helped elevate the bank to the forefront of the European market.
