BSNL Achieves Significant Profit Milestone After 18 Years
BSNL Reports Impressive Financial Growth
Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union Minister of Communications, announced that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state-owned telecom operator, has achieved a net profit of approximately Rs 5000 crores, marking a significant turnaround for the company after 18 years. During his address at the recent summit, Scindia highlighted that BSNL is "now generating cash" and has ambitious plans for the upcoming fiscal year. He mentioned intentions to double the operational profit of Rs 5000 crores in the next financial year. For the nine months ending December 31, 2025, BSNL reported an Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) of Rs 4,858 crores, reflecting a remarkable 105% increase compared to the same period last year. "We have substantial plans for capital expenditure, which will be funded through the surplus generated from our operational profits," Scindia stated. Additionally, BSNL recorded a revenue of Rs 17,705 crores in the first three quarters of FY26, representing a 13% growth over the previous year.

In discussing India Post's performance, Scindia noted that the organization is capitalizing on the e-commerce sector and aims to expand its business further. He expressed optimism about India Post going public with an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in the near future. "No logistics network can compare to India Post, which has 1.65 lakh points of presence across 6.5 lakh villages," he remarked. The minister also projected that India Post would achieve a double-digit increase in sales, positioning it as the "logistics powerhouse of India."
