The Legacy and Structure of the BMW Golf Cup

The BMW Golf Cup is recognized as one of the largest amateur golf tournament series globally, originating from a British initiative that began 25 years ago. Initially known as the BMW Invitation Tournament in the UK, it has evolved into an international series featuring 1,000 qualifying tournaments with participation from 100,000 players across 40 countries. The top players from each nation qualify for the prestigious BMW Golf Cup World Final, where individual titles are contested across three categories.

For the BMW Golf Cup 2026, there are two categories: A (for handicaps up to 12) and B (for handicaps 13-28). The winners from each handicap category at the National Final earn the opportunity to compete in the World Final of the BMW Golf Cup.
