Bank Closures Today for Eid-ul-Adha: What You Need to Know
Bank Holiday Observance
Today’s Bank Holiday: In celebration of Eid-ul-Adha, also referred to as Bakri Eid or Id-ul-Zuha, numerous banks across India are closed today, as outlined in the holiday schedule from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Customers are advised to check local banking holidays prior to visiting, as the closures can vary between states and Union Territories. According to the RBI’s holiday calendar, most bank branches will be closed due to the Eid celebrations. However, banking services will still be available in Sikkim, Assam, Odisha, and Arunachal Pradesh, where banks are operating as usual. The holiday affects only branch operations in certain states, while online and automated banking services will continue without any interruptions.
Customers who intended to visit a branch for services may experience delays during this holiday period. Activities such as cheque clearance, passbook printing, demand draft issuance, and cash deposits may not be available until branches reopen. Individuals with urgent banking needs are encouraged to either reschedule their visits or complete necessary tasks beforehand to avoid any inconvenience during the holiday.
Continued Access to Digital Banking
Despite the closure of bank branches in many regions, customers can still utilize digital banking services without any issues. Internet banking, mobile banking applications, ATMs, and UPI payment systems are all operational, allowing users to transfer funds, pay bills, and conduct everyday transactions from any location. Digital banking has proven to be a reliable option during public holidays, ensuring that customers have uninterrupted access to essential financial services even when physical branches are closed. Additionally, banks in India are also closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month as per RBI guidelines. Since bank holidays differ by state, customers should stay informed about local schedules to effectively plan their banking activities throughout the year.
