Apple Inc. has officially announced that John Ternus will assume the role of CEO starting September 1, marking a significant shift in leadership for the technology powerhouse. This transition signifies the conclusion of Tim Cook’s impressive 15-year leadership, during which he guided Apple through a remarkable era of growth and innovation. Following this change, Cook will continue to serve the company as executive chairman.

Introducing John Ternus
John Ternus, currently the Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple Inc., is set to take the reins as CEO. In his existing position, he reports directly to Tim Cook and is responsible for overseeing all hardware engineering initiatives at Apple.
Ternus leads teams that develop some of Apple’s most significant products, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, and Apple Vision Pro. His extensive involvement across various hardware categories positions him as a pivotal figure in the evolution of Apple’s product lineup.
Throughout his career at Apple, Ternus has been instrumental in engineering and enhancing multiple product generations. His contributions span established lines like the Mac and iPhone, as well as newer innovations such as the iPad and AirPods. His leadership has been crucial in the creation of many of Apple’s most iconic and widely utilized devices.
Prior to his tenure at Apple, Ternus gained valuable experience as a mechanical engineer at Virtual Research Systems, which helped shape his expertise in engineering and product development. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, providing a solid foundation for his career in hardware innovation.
