Air India Achieves Top Five Ranking in On-Time Performance
Air India’s Remarkable On-Time Performance
In June, Air India made a significant leap into the top five airlines globally for on-time performance, as reported by aviation analytics firm Cirium. The airline secured the fourth position in Cirium’s global rankings, achieving an impressive on-time arrival rate of 86.85%, a notable increase from 73.12% in May and 79.04% in April. The only airlines ahead of Air India were Saudia, Korean Air, and Aeromexico, with Singapore Airlines rounding out the top five.
Within the Asia Pacific region, Air India also ranked fourth, with Jeju Air leading the list, followed by Korean Air, Scoot, and Air India. Singapore Airlines was positioned fifth in this category.
Cirium defines on-time performance as flights arriving within a 15-minute window of their scheduled time. To be included in these rankings, airlines must adhere to strict data coverage standards and are evaluated based on actual gate arrival statistics.
The report further emphasized the strong operational efficiency at Indian airports. Chennai International Airport achieved fifth place among large airports worldwide, boasting an on-time departure rate of 92.11% in June. Additionally, Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, and Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport were also recognized, ranking 11th, 12th, and 13th respectively among large airports globally.
In the medium-sized airport category, Ahmedabad Airport ranked third globally with an on-time departure performance of 90.15%, while Cochin International Airport secured the 13th position among small airports with an 88.11% on-time rate.
Globally, Saudia led the airline rankings with an on-time arrival rate of 92.38%, followed by Korean Air at 88.56%, Aeromexico at 86.94%, Air India at 86.85%, and Singapore Airlines at 86.74%.
