In recent months, Tesla has acquired several commercial properties, including a service center in Kurla West, Mumbai. The company now has a presence in four significant locations: an engineering hub in Pune, a registered office in Bengaluru, and an office near the Bandra-Kurla Complex. Recently, Tesla experienced a leadership transition as Prashanth Menon, the head of Tesla India, resigned after nearly ten years. Until a new leader is appointed, the operations in India are being managed by Tesla's team from China. While the company is exploring its options in India, its manufacturing plans remain unclear, with current intentions focused on opening showrooms and selling imported vehicles.

During the inauguration of the Tesla Experience Centre, Maharashtra's Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were present. Neeta Sharada, the architect behind the showroom, shared her experience, stating, "I have been fortunate enough to be part of Tesla's journey in India, with the first one in Mumbai. The showroom has a minimalist design, featuring a white background with lightboxes showcasing Tesla images alongside some Indian visuals. We completed the project in 45 days."
Future Plans for Tesla
The opening of the Experience Centre indicates a renewed commitment to the Indian electric vehicle market, potentially paving the way for further advancements, despite existing regulatory and policy challenges regarding imports and localization requirements.
