Renault Duster Set for 2026 Launch with Exciting New Powertrains

Renault Duster's Anticipated Arrival
The Renault Duster is poised to be a key player in the refreshed Renault lineup, having already established a strong presence in the Indian market since its debut. Recent reports indicate that production of the new Duster will commence at the Renault Nissan facility in Chennai, with an expected launch date in early 2026.
Engine Options and Variants
Initially, the Duster will be available exclusively with petrol engines, including turbo-petrol variants. Renault has confirmed to automotive publications that hybrid models are likely to follow within 6 to 12 months after the initial launch.
Global Specifications
Internationally, the Duster features a 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 94 horsepower, complemented by two electric motors for a combined output of approximately 140 horsepower. The larger Bigster variant boasts a total of 155 horsepower, derived from a 108 horsepower petrol engine paired with a 51 horsepower electric motor. However, details regarding which hybrid system will be introduced in India remain limited.
CMF-B Platform and Future-Proofing
The upcoming Duster will utilize the CMF-B platform, which supports both internal combustion and hybrid/electric powertrains, ensuring versatility for future models. This platform will also be the foundation for two additional Renault and Nissan vehicles. The new Duster is expected to be a rebadged version of the Dacia Duster, offering three distinct powertrain options: Hybrid 140, TCE 130, and Bi-Fuel 100. The launch will likely start with a petrol variant, followed by hybrid and CNG options, mirroring the configurations available in international markets.
TCE 130 Powertrain
The TCE 130 powertrain available abroad features 4x4 off-road capabilities and a mild hybrid system that enhances performance. This setup includes a 48V traction battery and an electric start-generator that assists the combustion engine during demanding conditions. This option could gain significant traction in India, as the combination of hybrid technology and 4x4 capabilities would be a valuable addition to Renault's offerings.
Bi-Fuel 100 Option
The Renault Duster may also come equipped with an LPG powertrain, catering to consumers looking for a cost-effective SUV. The Dacia UK website highlights an LPG variant, and it is likely that Renault will adapt this for the Indian market to ensure compatibility with CNG.
Hybrid 140 Configuration
Additionally, the Duster could feature a new petrol engine paired with a hybrid system, delivering 140 horsepower through two electric motors for smooth performance. An automatic transmission will further enhance the driving experience. Given the availability of these powertrains in international markets, it is expected that similar options will be offered in India.
