Mahindra Begins Testing New Bolero Platform with Exciting Features

Testing Phase of the New Bolero
Mahindra has initiated road tests for a new vehicle platform that bears a striking resemblance to the upcoming Bolero. Reports suggest that this model will be built on a versatile platform capable of accommodating various powertrains, with an official unveiling anticipated around the festive season. Recent spy shots from a popular automotive site have showcased a heavily camouflaged test vehicle, indicating notable alterations in design, dimensions, and structural components.
Innovative Platform and Design Features
The new Bolero is likely to be the first model utilizing the innovative New Flexible Architecture (NFA) platform. This platform is expected to support a diverse lineup of petrol, diesel, and hybrid variants, allowing Mahindra to broaden its vehicle offerings. The vehicle's overall design appears robust and boxy, featuring bold, squared proportions. Spy images reveal circular LED headlights at the front and horizontally arranged tail lamps at the rear, contributing to its distinctive boxy aesthetic, which also includes a spare wheel mount.
Enhanced Design Elements
The new design will feature redesigned outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), with the doors and fenders showcasing pronounced creases and panels. Built on a completely new monocoque chassis, this architecture is expected to accommodate internal combustion engines (ICE), hybrid, and electric powertrains, streamlining Mahindra's future vehicle development for both domestic and international markets.
Anticipated Powertrains and Features
While Mahindra has yet to disclose specific technical specifications, it is likely that the new Bolero will come equipped with an updated diesel engine and potentially a petrol hybrid variant in the future. Additional features may include a modern infotainment system, power windows, enhanced interiors, along with safety features such as ABS and airbags. The launch of the revamped Bolero is projected for 2026, promising new features and improved exterior updates.
