Zimbabwe Unveils Squad for Test Series Against New Zealand
Zimbabwe's Squad Announcement for Upcoming Tests
New Delhi [India] - On July 21, Zimbabwe revealed a 16-member team set to compete in two Test matches against New Zealand, the inaugural World Test Champions. These matches are slated to take place in Bulawayo, commencing on July 30, as reported by the ICC.
The Zimbabwean side has received a significant boost with the return of several key players from their recent series against South Africa. Notable inclusions are all-rounder Sikandar Raza and the batting pair of Roy Kaia and Tanunurwa Makoni.
Additionally, Brian Bennett is back in the squad, having been a standout performer during Zimbabwe's drawn series in Bangladesh earlier this year.
Bennett finished as the second-highest run-scorer in that series, contributing to Zimbabwe's first Test victory over Bangladesh since 2018.
The opening batsman also showcased his talent in the one-off Test against England in May, where he scored a century in the first innings at Trent Bridge.
After missing part of the South Africa series due to a concussion, the 21-year-old has been cleared to participate in the upcoming matches against the Black Caps.
To accommodate the returning players, Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Prince Masvaure, Wessly Madhevere, and Kundai Matigimu will be leaving the squad.
Currently, both New Zealand and Zimbabwe are engaged in a T20I tri-series alongside South Africa.
