Exciting Pickleball Events Planned for August


The Zimbabwe Pickleball Association (ZPA) has announced a packed schedule for August, featuring two significant tournaments in Harare and Bulawayo. These events aim to unite players from all over the nation as the sport experiences remarkable growth.


Both tournaments will include singles and doubles matches across various categories, offering a platform for seasoned athletes, emerging talents, and grassroots clubs to showcase their skills while encouraging community engagement and family participation.


Mthandazo Ngwenya, the president of the Zimbabwe Pickleball Association, emphasized the importance of these tournaments in advancing the sport. He stated, "These events are not merely competitions; they celebrate the progress pickleball has made in Zimbabwe." Ngwenya expressed a desire to provide regular competitive opportunities for players while fostering community involvement and inspiring youth to embrace the sport.


Ngwenya also highlighted that hosting significant events in both Harare and Bulawayo aligns with the association's vision for national expansion. "Both cities boast vibrant pickleball communities, and our commitment to developing the sport across the country is evident through these major events," he remarked.


The Harare tournament will kick off the August festivities, followed by the Bulawayo event, which is expected to attract a strong lineup of competitors. Participation in both cities has been steadily increasing, with local clubs actively working to introduce more individuals to pickleball.
