Zelina Vega's Title Defense at Saturday Night’s Main Event

Zelina Vega demonstrated remarkable determination during her inaugural singles title defense at Saturday Night’s Main Event, ultimately securing victory against her rival. However, the match was marred by a significant error that resulted in an unexpected injury.

In the second bout of the latest Saturday Night’s Main Event 2025, held at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, Vega (c) successfully defended her Women’s United States Championship against Chelsea Green. Despite her efforts, Green ended the match with a broken nose.

As the contest progressed, Vega countered Green's Un-Pretti-Her move into a backstabber before climbing to the top rope. Green's ally, Niven, attempted to distract Vega, but Vega managed to escape and executed a Code Red from the top rope to retain her championship.

Injury Incident During the Match

After the match concluded, Vega exited the ring while Piper Niven and Alba Fyre were seen attending to Green, who was bleeding profusely from her nose. It appeared that Vega's botched 619 maneuver was responsible for the injury. The impact of this injury on Green's upcoming schedule remains uncertain.

This event marked Vega's first title defense since winning the Women’s United States Championship, which she claimed 30 days prior. She secured the title from Chelsea Green during the post-Wrestlemania 41 episode of WWE Smackdown on April 25, making her the second-ever champion of this title.

For context, Green was the first Women’s US Champion, having won the title in a tournament final at the previous SNME edition last December. Following her loss to Vega, Green had been actively seeking a rematch, which was granted after a backstage altercation led to their match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
