The uncertainty surrounding the broadcast of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in India has been resolved, as Zee Entertainment has acquired the rights to air the tournament. Matches will be shown on the United8 Sports linear TV channels, with live streaming available through the Zee5 app. The tournament is set to kick off on June 11 and will take place across the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
In addition to the 2026 World Cup, Zee will also cover the FIFA World Cup 2030, the Women's FIFA World Cup 2027, and various other significant FIFA events, including U-17 and U-20 World Cups, both for men and women, as well as Futsal World Cups and Intercontinental Cups, extending their coverage until 2034.
Punit Goenka, CEO of ZEEL, expressed enthusiasm about bringing this major sporting event to Indian viewers, highlighting football's universal appeal across different demographics.
