On Tuesday, India's Yuki Bhambri and N Sriram Balaji successfully advanced to the second round of the men's doubles competition at the French Open. Bhambri, who teamed up with New Zealand's Michael Venus, triumphed over the Argentine duo of Francisco Cerundolo and Mariano Kestelboim with a score of 7-5, 6-2 at Roland-Garros. Meanwhile, Balaji, partnering with Brazil's Marcelo Demoliner, overcame Germany's Constantin Frantzen and the Netherlands' Robin Haase, winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, as reported by a sports news outlet.

Bhambri's Smooth Victory

In the match featuring Bhambri and Venus against Cerundolo and Kestelboim, the first set remained on serve until the pivotal 11th game, where Bhambri and Venus achieved a crucial break. They maintained their serve in the subsequent game to secure the first set. Carrying this momentum into the second set, they broke their opponents early and comfortably finished the match.

Balaji's Thrilling Three-Set Match

In the other match, Balaji and Demoliner started strong, breaking their opponents early in the third game to take charge of the first set. They managed a second break in the ninth game, converting their third set point to gain the set advantage. Frantzen and Haase rallied in the second set, breaking Balaji and Demoliner in the seventh game, which allowed them to level the match and push it to a deciding set. However, they faltered early in the final set, losing serve in the second game, enabling Balaji and Demoliner to capitalize and secure their spot in the second round.

Upcoming Mixed Doubles Match for Bhambri

Currently ranked as India's top men's doubles player, Bhambri is also set to compete in the mixed doubles event at the French Open. He will partner with Alexandra Panova to face David Pel and Ukraine's Lyudmyla Kichenok in their opening round on Thursday.
