Yufei Long's Stellar Performance at Singapore Open 2026

Yufei Long, the top seed, has successfully made her way to the finals in both Women's Singles and Women's Doubles at the Singapore Open 2026. Her impressive streak in the tournament was momentarily halted during the Mixed Doubles semifinal. In the Women's Singles, Long showcased her dominance by winning all four matches without losing a single game. She defeated Yingyi Yang with scores of 11-3, 11-2 in the Round of 16, followed by a victory over Nok Yiu Tang in the quarterfinals, and Kei Sawaki in the semifinals with scores of 11-4, 11-6.

In Women's Doubles, teaming up with Kara Wheatley, Long continued her strong performance. The duo triumphed over Kwan Wun Man and Sarah Jane Lim with a score of 11-4, 11-4, then overcame Sophia Nhi Huynh and Sophia Phuong Anh Tran I with 11-7, 11-6, before narrowly defeating Kei Sawaki and Aiko Yoshitomi 12-10, 11-5 in the semifinals to secure their spot in the final.

However, the Mixed Doubles event told a different story for Long and her partner Lucas Pascoe. They advanced through the Round of 16 and quarterfinals, defeating Tingwen Wang and Dustin Wang, followed by Tya Karina and Aryaan Bhatia. Unfortunately, their journey ended in the semifinals against Jaeda Minniefield and Luc Pham, who won 9-11, 11-0, 11-8 after losing the first game.

Despite the setback in Mixed Doubles, Long's achievement of reaching two finals in one tournament is commendable, especially considering the physical challenges of competing in three events. Before her transition to pickleball, Long was a Division I college tennis player in the United States, where she represented Boston College and captained the team in her final year, later playing for Vanderbilt University.

Long is now focused on the finals scheduled for Sunday in both Women's Singles and Women's Doubles, aiming to turn her semifinal successes into championship titles.
