In a remarkable feat for Indian athletics, 17-year-old Anish Raj from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, has won the gold medal in the 1-Lap Road Category at the 20th Asian Roller-Skating Championships, which took place in South Korea from July 19 to 30, 2025.
The championship featured top-tier athletes from various Asian countries competing in events like inline freestyle, speed skating, rink hockey, artistic skating, and skateboarding, according to a press release.
With participation from 14 nations, Indian competitors made a significant mark with their outstanding performances across different categories, highlighting India's rising stature in roller sports on the Asian continent. Anish's victory is particularly historic as he becomes the first U-19 skater from Uttar Pradesh to represent India at both the Asian Championships and the World Skate Games.
