WWE Summerslam 2025: A Historic Two-Night Event

The upcoming WWE Summerslam 2025 marks a significant milestone as it will be the first time this annual wrestling extravaganza is held over two nights. The event promises an action-packed lineup, with two title matches expected to headline each night.

Rumors suggest that the World Heavyweight Championship match between CM Punk and Gunther will be the main event for Night One. Speculation indicates that a new champion may emerge from this bout, with many believing it won't be Punk. There are whispers of a potential Money in the Bank cash-in during or after this match.

In a recent discussion on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed fan theories regarding Seth Rollins' injury, suggesting it might be part of a storyline leading into Summerslam. The theory posits that Rollins could cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase on the winner of the Punk vs. Gunther match.

“This is interesting because the plan was always to do the injury to Seth Rollins at Saturday Night’s Main Event. You think he’s hurt badly, he’s gone, and then he surprises everyone, cashes in on the Gunther–Punk winner—which is probably Punk, right? That’s the one he’s always screwing with. Then he ends up the champion,” Meltzer hinted at the possibility of Rollins spoiling CM Punk's moment at Summerslam 2025.

Since Punk's return to WWE, his rivalry with Rollins has intensified, leading to a long-standing feud. They previously faced off at Wrestlemania 41, where Roman Reigns was also involved in a triple threat match. If Rollins does cash in at Summerslam, it could set the stage for a decisive match between the two.
