WWE Plans Grand Farewell for John Cena in December 2025
WWE's Special Plans for John Cena's Retirement
WWE is making extensive preparations to ensure John Cena's retirement is a memorable occasion, aiming to conclude his career with unprecedented flair. Initial reports suggested that WWE was considering a standalone premium live event in December 2025, coinciding with Cena's last match. However, this plan has evolved, as WWE typically does not host such events in the year's final month.
Recent updates indicate that WWE intends to transform Cena's farewell match into a lucrative multi-day event, with various cities competing to host it. According to James Stewart from a local sports hub, WWE has set a bidding price of $1.5 million for interested cities to secure the event.
The week-long festivities are slated to commence on December 10, 2025, featuring community outreach initiatives. The schedule includes an Undertaker 1 deadMAN SHOW on December 11, a live SmackDown on December 12, and Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, where Cena will wrestle his final match.

Awaiting Official Confirmation from WWE
Stewart also noted that WWE began reaching out to potential host cities just two days after the Royal Rumble 2025 in February, aiming to finalize a location by the end of April. While Boston appears to be the leading candidate, especially after comments from John Cena Sr., WWE has yet to officially announce the details of this significant event.
Recently, Cena completed a third of his retirement tour for 2025, successfully defending his Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton at WWE Backlash. Upcoming appearances include major events like Money in the Bank in Los Angeles and Clash in Paris after Summerslam.
Cena is also scheduled for the next Saturday Night’s Main Event NBC Specials, taking place next weekend in Tampa, Florida, where his participation quickly sold out tickets. Current WWE plans suggest he may face R-Truth during this event.
