Overview of the WPL 2026 Mega Auction
New Delhi, Nov 21: Allrounder Deepti Sharma and fast bowler Renuka Singh are the only two Indian players included in the marquee list for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 mega auction, scheduled to take place in the national capital on November 27.
The marquee list also highlights New Zealand's Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr, England's Sophie Ecclestone, Australia's captain Alyssa Healy along with multiple-time World Cup champion Meg Lanning, and South Africa's captain Laura Wolvaardt.
Among the six players with a base price of INR 50 lakh, Renuka has set hers at INR 40 lakh, while Laura's is INR 30 lakh. Deepti, who was named Player of the Tournament in the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, along with Sophie and Alyssa, previously played for UP Warriorz and may be retained by the franchise using their four right-to-match (RTM) options.
A total of 277 players will be auctioned for 73 available slots. This includes 194 Indian cricketers, with 52 having caps and 142 uncapped players competing for 50 spots. Additionally, 66 overseas capped players and 17 uncapped foreign players will vie for 23 slots designated for non-Indian cricketers.
Nineteen players have entered the auction at the highest base price of INR 50 lakh, while 11 players are in the INR 40 lakh category. Another 88 players have set their base price at INR 30 lakh.
Indian batter Harleen Deol, previously with Gujarat Giants, has entered the capped allrounders’ list at the top base price of INR 50 lakh. Her teammates from the recent ODI World Cup win, Radha Yadav, Sneh Rana, and N Shree Charani, have all set their base price at INR 30 lakh.
Assam's wicketkeeper Uma Chetry, who served as a backup in India’s squad, and fast bowler Kranti Gaud, who represented UPW, have also listed themselves in the INR 50 lakh bracket. Australia’s leg spinner Alana King has set her price at INR 40 lakh, while India’s spin trio of Asha Sobhana, Priya Mishra, and Saika Ishaque have all listed themselves at INR 30 lakh and will be in the sixth set.
Notably absent from the auction list are Australia’s Tahlia McGrath, who played for UPW, and Sophie Molineux, who was with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, from the 23-member Australian contingent.
The auction list features 22 players from England, 13 from New Zealand, and 11 from South Africa. Sri Lanka will be represented by Chamari Athapaththu, Harshitha Samarawickrama, and Inoka Ranaweera, with Chamari having played for UPW last season. The Bangladesh trio of Marufa Akter, Shorna Akter, and Rabeya Khan have also entered the pool.
Thailand’s left-arm spinner Thipatcha Putthawong is the only representative from her country, while the USA’s Tara Norris, who played for Delhi Capitals in WPL 2023 and was the first bowler to achieve a five-wicket haul in the competition, is the sole American player in the pool.
UAE captain Esha Oza and wicketkeeper Theertha Satish complete the four players from Associate nations, with no players from Ireland or Scotland listed in the auction. Among franchises, UPW and GG will enter the auction with the largest budgets of INR 14.50 crore and INR 9 crore respectively.
Following them are RCB (INR 6.15 crore), Mumbai Indians (INR 5.75 crore), and Delhi Capitals (INR 5.70 crore). Two-time champions MI and three-time runners-up DC, after retaining five players each, will not have any RTM options available.
