Will Howells Returns to the PPA Tour

Will Howells is poised to make his return to the PPA Tour at the Greater Zion Cup, taking place this week at Black Desert Resort in Utah. This marks his comeback after being sidelined for nearly two months due to an injury. The 27-year-old athlete missed four tournaments following a setback during the Pickleball Central Indoor National Championships in January, where he had to retire mid-match due to injury.

Howells was competing against Cason Campbell when the injury occurred, having lost the first set 9-11 before he could no longer continue. He later disclosed that he had sustained a Grade 2 deltoid ligament sprain along with a bone bruise, which affected the early stages of his debut season on the PPA Tour.

Taking to social media, Howells shared his thoughts on his recovery journey. He expressed gratitude for the experience, stating, "Recovering from injury is such a great reminder to be grateful and never take anything for granted. Super excited to be back on the court and playing in Utah!"

After a ten-week hiatus, Howells is set to compete in both men's doubles and mixed doubles at the Greater Zion Cup. He will team up with New Jersey 5s partner Noe Khlif for men's doubles, while joining forces with Meghan Dizon in mixed doubles. In their first match, they will face Brooke Caruso and Cason Campbell in the round of 64, with their men's doubles opponents to be determined after the round of 128.

Howells' return adds excitement to the tournament as he aims to regain his momentum following an interrupted start to the season. Despite the injury, he concluded his 2025 season on a high note, securing two gold medals at the tour finale—one in mixed doubles with Bobbi Oshiro and another in men's doubles with Jack Munro, showcasing his potential on the circuit.

Following the Greater Zion Cup, Howells plans to head to Asia for the Franklin Asia Pickleball Showcase, which kicks off on April 7. This upcoming series of events will be vital for him as he seeks to re-establish his presence on the tour after his injury hiatus. The Greater Zion Cup will be a significant first step in his return to competitive play.
