Media Silence for Rizwan Amid Cyber Crime Investigations

Lahore: Mohammad Rizwan, the former captain of Pakistan's cricket team, has been barred by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) from holding a media conference related to ongoing investigations by the National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA) into his alleged involvement in online betting and gambling.

Sources indicate that Rizwan made two requests last week to the PCB for media access, both of which were declined.

His situation gained attention after he was recalled from the England tour alongside senior players Imam-ul-Haq and Salman Ali Agha, following inquiries from the NCCIA regarding his financial dealings.

During the second Test at Lord's, both Rizwan and Imam had their mobile devices confiscated, which are currently undergoing forensic analysis by the NCCIA.

While the PCB has not issued an official statement, insiders reveal that Rizwan sought permission to address the media to clarify the situation and dispel rumors.

"Rizwan expressed a desire to explain his side of the story to the media, citing widespread confusion and speculation surrounding the issue," the source noted.

Typically, players under central contracts with the PCB are required to obtain clearance before making any public statements.

Interestingly, while Rizwan faces scrutiny, his teammate Imam, who is also under investigation for allegedly exaggerating an injury that prevented him from batting in both innings of the Lord's Test, has maintained a low profile.

Imam has been largely absent from the public eye, despite being summoned for questioning by the NCCIA alongside Rizwan on September 9 in Lahore.
