India's Hockey Team Set for FIH Pro League Challenge


New Delhi: Hockey India has revealed a 24-member squad for the initial leg of the FIH Pro League, scheduled from February 10 to 15 at the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, Odisha.


Previously, a list of 33 potential players was shared for the training camp, which has now been narrowed down to the final squad for the upcoming matches.




This home leg will see India face off against formidable teams like Argentina and Belgium.


Chief coach Craig Fulton expressed enthusiasm about the squad's composition, highlighting a blend of youthful talent and seasoned players. He mentioned, "We have promising young players like Rosan (Kujur), Manmeet (Singh), and Amandeep, alongside experienced individuals from the India A setup, which is crucial for our strategy."


Fulton added, "Belgium and Argentina are top-tier teams, but we trust in our capabilities and aim to perform at our best."


The Indian lineup showcases a mix of seasoned athletes and emerging stars, aiming for a strong start in the Pro League on home turf.


Goalkeeping will be managed by Suraj Karkera and Pawan, while the defense features captain Harmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Jarmanpreet Singh, Jugraj Singh, Sumit, Sanjay, and Nilam Sanjeep Xess.


Amandeep Lakra, who recently excelled in the Hockey India League, has secured a spot in the squad as well.


The midfield will be led by Rajinder Singh, Manmeet Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Hardik Singh, Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh, Nilakanta Sharma, and Rosan Kujur.


Notably, 21-year-old Rosan Kujur from Odisha is making his debut in the senior national team after contributing to the Indian junior team's bronze medal win at the FIH Junior World Cup 2025 in Chennai.


He also had a standout domestic season with the Vedanta Kalinga Lancers, who clinched the Hockey India League 2025-26 title.


Manmeet Singh, also included in the squad, has shown impressive form and was part of the junior team that won bronze in Chennai.


The forward line consists of Abhishek, Sukhjeet Singh, Shilanand Lakra, Selvam Karthi, Mandeep Singh, Araijeet Singh Hundal, and Aditya Arjun Lalage.


India, who finished eighth out of nine teams last season, will kick off their campaign against Belgium on February 11, followed by a match against Argentina the next day.


The team, led by Harmanpreet Singh, will then face Belgium again on February 14 and Argentina on February 15. Afterward, they will head to Hobart to compete against Spain on February 21 and 24, and Australia on February 22 and 25. The European segment of the tournament is set for June.
