Who is Rajat Chauhan's Bride? Inside the Grand Wedding of India's Archery Stars!
Celebrating Love and Archery
New Delhi: Renowned compound archer Rajat Chauhan, a recipient of the Arjuna Award, tied the knot with fellow archer Swati Dudhwal in a beautiful ceremony held in Jaipur. Both athletes have made significant contributions to archery, earning numerous accolades for Rajasthan and India, and showcasing their talent on international platforms.
The wedding festivities were marked by traditional elegance, featuring a procession that included several prominent archers, adding to the joy of the occasion.
A host of archery luminaries attended the celebration, including Olympians Deepika Kumari, Atanu Das, and Tarundeep Rai, along with champions like Rahul Banerjee, Jayanta Talukdar, Ojas Deotale, Aditi Swami, Prathamesh Fuge, and Prathamesh Jawkar, all coming together to honor the couple.
Chauhan, who serves as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in Rajasthan, boasts an impressive record, including a silver medal at the Asian Games and an individual silver at the World Championships, along with multiple medals at the World Cup events.
Earlier this year, he, along with teammates Aman Saini and Abhishek Verma, achieved remarkable success at the Archery World Cups, clinching a victory against France in the men's team compound final with a score of 232-230. At the 38th National Games in February, Chauhan showcased his prowess by winning the men's individual event.
Swati has also made her mark in the sport, securing a gold medal at the World Archery University Championships and a bronze at the World Archery Youth Championships and Asian Grand Prix Circuit.
In May, she earned a bronze medal in the senior category at the Khelo India Women’s National Ranking Archery Tournament held in Bhopal.
Chauhan's aspirations for the Olympics are coming to fruition, as compound archery is set to debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. He even commemorated this dream with a tattoo of the iconic Olympic rings on his right arm back in 2016.
The upcoming Olympic Games will feature the first-ever medal for compound archers, following the International Olympic Committee's decision to include the compound mixed team event in the archery lineup for Los Angeles.
This new event will complement the existing five recurve categories, bringing the total number of archery medals to six.
This marks the first addition of a new bow style to the Olympic archery competition since its reintroduction in 1972.
Archery made its Olympic comeback in 1972 with individual events for both men and women, followed by team competitions in 1988. The mixed team event for recurve archers debuted at the Tokyo 2020 Games. The inclusion of the mixed team format for compound archery promotes gender equality and maintains athlete quotas for the Los Angeles Games.
