Exciting Conclusion to the National Championships


Bhubaneswar: The Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) competitions at the Junior & Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championships 2026–27 wrapped up on Sunday, showcasing thrilling apparatus finals at the Gymnastics High Performance Centre located in Kalinga Stadium, marking the end of a fiercely contested national event.


Odisha made a significant impact in the senior women's artistic gymnastics category, with Priyanshi Bansal achieving a podium finish on the balance beam, while Tannu excelled to secure gold on the uneven bars.


Karishma, Tannu's sister and a top gymnast training at the Odisha AM/NS India Gymnastics High Performance Centre, represented the Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) and won gold in the floor exercise.


In the senior women’s artistic gymnastics competition, Niranjana Punia from Haryana took home the balance beam title, with Anoushka Patil from Maharashtra finishing in second place and Priyanshi claiming third.


Karishma of RSPB delivered an impressive routine on the floor exercise, finishing ahead of Ashmi Debnath from West Bengal and Eshitaa Rewale from Maharashtra, who also triumphed in the vault, narrowly defeating RSPB’s Piyasa Kundu, while Soumili Karar from West Bengal rounded out the podium.


Tannu's sharp performance on the uneven bars earned her gold, followed by Diya Thakore from Gujarat and Amani Dilshad from Kerala.


In the junior women’s category, Anusua Howlader from West Bengal emerged victorious on the balance beam, with Shreyanshi Roy from Tripura taking silver and Shreya Ghosh from West Bengal finishing third.


Sreeparna Debnath from Tripura topped the floor exercise, followed by her fellow state-mate Shreyanshi Roy and Maharashtra’s Dhanishtha Ugalmugle.


On the vault, Vaishnavi Vyas from Telangana claimed first place, with Shreyanshi Roy securing another podium finish in second, and Tora Sani from West Bengal in third.


Paromita Bera from West Bengal dominated the uneven bars, followed by Abhidha Singh Dev from Uttar Pradesh and Sakshi Dalvi from Maharashtra.


The final day of the championships was attended by notable dignitaries, including Suryabanshi Suraj, Minister of Sports & Youth Services; Sambit Patra, MP from Puri Lok Sabha; Dipa Karmakar, Padma Shri awardee and Olympian; Bishweshwar Nandi, Dronacharya Awardee; Yeddula Vijay, Director of Sports, Odisha; and several others.
