The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has successfully wrapped up the Men's Greco-Roman events at the Senior Open Ranking Tournament 2026, which took place at Nandininagar Mahavidyalaya on Tuesday. With the Greco-Roman medalists now confirmed, the tournament has shifted focus to the Women's Wrestling category, where athletes are competing in knockout rounds to secure their national rankings, as stated in a press release. The Greco-Roman division included competitors across 10 weight classes to determine their standings within the country.


WFI President Praises Domestic Talent

Sanjay Singh, the President of the Wrestling Federation of India, expressed his congratulations to all medalists and participants in the Greco-Roman events. He remarked, "The competition we observed over the past few days showcases the dedication these athletes demonstrate throughout the year. This tournament is a vital platform for assessing our domestic talent, and I am optimistic that the champions here will represent Indian wrestling effectively on the international stage."

At the same time, the Women's Wrestling competition has moved into the later knockout rounds.


57kg Category Highlights

In the 57kg category, Kajal Choudhary triumphed in the quarterfinals against Muskan and is set to compete against Shivani, who advanced by defeating Suhani. Meanwhile, Reena overcame Nisha Saini to secure a semifinal match against Hansika Lamba, who progressed after defeating Kajal in her quarterfinal.


65kg Category Updates

During the pre-quarterfinals of the 65kg category, Dishun bested Ankita Kumar, Janvi triumphed over Tanu, Sneha won against Ritu, and Deeksha Sheor defeated Sonam Singh to reach the quarterfinals.


76kg Category Semifinals

In the 76kg category, the competition has narrowed down to the final four, confirming a semifinal match between Ishita Choudhary and Meghna.
