India's Captain Reflects on Team's Performance

In the third and final ODI against India, the West Indies successfully chased down a target of 352 runs. Captain Shubman Gill expressed satisfaction with the team's overall development but acknowledged that there are still aspects requiring improvement. He noted that while India set a respectable score, the dew factor and being four overs behind allowed the West Indies to seize control towards the end of the match. Gill pointed out that fielding errors, including dropped catches, and the execution of death bowling were critical areas needing attention.

Shai Hope's Remarkable Century

Shai Hope delivered an outstanding performance, scoring an unbeaten 162 runs off 143 balls, leading the West Indies to a five-wicket victory over India in Mullanpur. This win marked the West Indies' highest successful chase in ODI history, providing a significant morale boost for the team. Hope, who kept wickets for the entire innings and opened the batting, overcame cramps to guide his team to victory with a stellar century.

Gill Emphasizes Need for Improvement

Gill stated, "We have ticked many boxes, but there are still areas that require fine-tuning. I was pleased with the total we posted, but being four overs behind due to dew allowed them to take control at the end. Regarding Kuldeep's late introduction, there was uncertainty about Gurnoor's return, and since Kuldeep is a wicket-taker, I wanted to save him for the end. Overall, I am content with our progress, but we must enhance our fielding, as we dropped several catches. Our death bowling also needs refinement; we sometimes lack clarity on whether to attack or defend. These are key areas for improvement."

West Indies Celebrate Consolation Victory

The West Indies secured a consolation win after India had already clinched the series with victories in the first two ODIs. India set a formidable score of 351/7, thanks to contributions from KL Rahul (129*), Rohit Sharma (92), and Ruturaj Gaikwad (57). In response, Shai Hope's century, along with valuable innings from Amir Jangoo (67) and Keemo Paul (44), led the West Indies to victory in just 48.2 overs.
