In a thrilling match at the GMC Balayogi Hockey Ground in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, Wales emerged victorious against Korea with a score of 2-1 during their 5/8th place clash at the FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers 2026. Captain Elizabeth Bingham was instrumental in the win, netting both goals for Wales at the 49th and 53rd minutes. Korea's Yeongeun Park managed to score one goal in the 46th minute, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide.
In another semi-final match held at the same venue, England comfortably defeated Scotland 2-0, securing their place in the finals. Lottie Bingham opened the scoring in the 25th minute, followed by Drcy Bourne's goal just four minutes later.
Meanwhile, India is set to face Italy in the semi-finals, aiming to maintain their impressive performance in front of a home crowd.
