Could Kohli Be at Lord's This Summer?

Is there a chance that Virat Kohli will make a surprise visit to Lord’s this summer? This intriguing question has emerged among cricket enthusiasts following a slip of the tongue by Jonathan Trott, the former England player and current coach of Afghanistan, during a live segment on the Sony Sports Network.

While discussing India's recent win and Kohli's absence from international matches, Trott shared insights about the emotional ties players have with their dressing rooms after stepping away from the sport. In this context, he casually mentioned Kohli's London address.

“Doesn’t he live in St. John’s Wood or nearby? Can’t we ask him to come back?” Trott remarked, in response to Kohli's social media post expressing his longing for the dressing room atmosphere. “It’s no surprise he misses that vibe. I often wonder how quickly it returns once you leave.”

Although Trott's comment may have been unintentional, it quickly caught the attention of fans. A subsequent report from The Telegraph confirmed that Kohli actually resides in Notting Hill, London, just 2.5 miles from St. John’s Wood, and conveniently close to Lord’s Cricket Ground.

As the Test series between England and India heats up, with Lord’s being a key venue for the much-anticipated match, speculation is rife that Kohli might be spotted in the stands or even in the dressing room, reconnecting with former teammates.

Since announcing his retirement from T20Is and stepping back from Test cricket, Kohli has kept a low profile, focusing on quality family time in the UK. His last major public appearance was during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) IPL victory parade, where his presence thrilled fans.

Prior to the current Test series, reports indicated that Kohli hosted several members of the Indian team at his London home. Following India’s impressive win at Edgbaston, Kohli took to social media to commend the team, particularly highlighting Shubman Gill’s captaincy and the exceptional bowling of Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj.

With cricket fans in London eagerly anticipating the Lord’s Test, many will be on the lookout for Kohli. Given his recent comments and strong ties to the game, it wouldn’t be surprising if the crowd erupts at the sight of him entering the iconic ground where he once shone.
